There has been heartaches, headaches, and mental health trauma. There have been good times and bad, awakenings, and answers…and that was just through Thursday! My apologies for the lack of an article last week. Despite everything else that was going on, it was only due to technical difficulties. So sorry! 😞
Her husband is well known at the city gates, where he sits with the other civic leaders. Proverbs 31:23 — New Living Translation
Yawn! So we’re getting political now? Actually…no, not really. This isn't like the city councils we think of today. Men of a certain age were automatically assigned to be a leader of the land/area. They literally served as judge, jury, and so much more.
Whether you share my beliefs or not, Moses and the Ten Commandments are pretty well-known the world over. These leaders/elders were responsible for holding the people accountable to following God’s laws — mainly, the Ten Commandments. But also those laws that are now archaic, like stoning a thief, etc. Along with these responsibilities, the men were expected to act with a fair amount of dignity and decorum. They’d be turning over in their graves if they saw how “Christian male leaders” conducted themselves today; not so lovingly referred to as theobros (derived from a podcast of the same name…Google it, it’s cringy, at best….)
The town council of yore, depicted here, were held to strict, high standards and were utterly shamed if they stepped out of line. While their wives were also expected to act with dignity, all eyes were on the men, not their wives.

“Behind every great man there's a great woman.”
Quote attributed, in part, to athlete, Meryll Frost
Remember, though, the Proverbs 31 woman is fictitious. She didn't ever exist and is compromised of every facet a woman can be! ❤
Have a blessed day!
